The Future of the Professions as the Machine Intelligence Era Begins
21 Nov 2018, 12:30pm - 2:00pm
Level 3, The British Consulate-General, 1 Supreme Court Road, Queensway, Hong Kong
For centuries, the so-called Professions – Doctors, Lawyers, Professors, Accountants, and other highly credentialed individuals – have helped form the bedrock of modern societies and institutions. While this essential role certainly continues, in recent years these individuals have faced a growing range of challenges – high costs, limited citizen access, over-whelming workloads, and an increasing inability to keep up with their fields. There is much talk of burnout.
Information technology, particularly machine intelligence, can theoretically address many of today’s challenges by automating and standardising routine professional activities. But how much change is really occurring, and to what extent can even the most experienced knowledge workers be replaced?
In this session, David Moschella will use the future of the professions as a means to assess the state of machine intelligence today, and over the coming decade.

The Sensational Feel-Good Musical MAMMA MIA! Returns to Hong Kong
16 -27 January 2019
Lyric Theatre, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts
Described as ‘the sunniest of all musicals’, MAMMA MIA! is back to Hong Kong with a new cast from the UK. MAMMA MIA! is Judy Craymer’s ingenious vision of staging the story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs with an enchanting tale of family and friendship unfolding on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father, brings three men from her mother's romantic past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago.
The narrative power of more than 22 of ABBA's greatest hits, including Dancing Queen, Take A Chance On Me, The Winner Takes It All, Does Your Mother Know and of course Mamma Mia, propels this charming story of love, laughter and friendship.
Seen by more than 60 million people in 50 productions in 16 different languages, the smash hit musical became the highest-grossing live action musical film of all time since 2008 and one of only five musicals to have run for more than 10 years both on Broadway and in the West End.
It’s time for Hong Kong audiences to recapture the magic and the feel-good experience in person. For tickets starting at HK$395, pleae visit here to purchase.
