Join ACBC for an exclusive briefing with Australia's Ambassador to China as they look back on a tumultuous 2020 and cast an eye to the opportunities and challenges in the year ahead.
Ambassador Graham Fletcher will provide an update from the Australian Embassy in Beijing on the current health of the Australia-China bilateral relationship and prospects for improved ties over the coming year. Austrade's General Manager for Greater China Daniel Boyer will brief members on the status of China's economy as it emerges from the pandemic and what industry trends and policies members should keep an eye out for in 2021. Ambassador Fletcher and Daniel Boyer will be joined by ACBC National President David Olsson to discuss questions posed by ACBC members on matters concerning the bilateral relationship and Australia-China business relations. This event will feature a moderated Q&A session, where members will have the opportunity to ask questions of the Ambassador and panel.

Australia Ambassador to China
Graham Fletcher has been Australia’s Ambassador to China since August 2019. Prior to this appointment, Mr Fletcher was head of the North Asia Division in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) during 2008-10 and again from 2015. During 2014, he led the team that completed negotiation of the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement. Mr Fletcher has served in the Australian Embassy to China on three previous occasions: as Third Secretary (1986-88), Counsellor (1997-2000) and Deputy Head of Mission (2004-08).
General Manager | Austrade, General Manager for Greater China
Daniel Boyer is currently the General Manager, Greater China, for Austrade Beijing, leading a team of 115 staff across 12 posts to deliver high quality trade and investment services to Australian and Chinese clients. Daniel joined the Australian Trade Commission in 2014, most recently leading the Government and Partnerships division.
ACBC National President
David Boyer is the current National President of the Australia China Business Council, a business champion for the Australian Government’s New Colombo Program, a member of the Council of the Australian National University Foundation and the advisory board of ANU’s Australian Centre for China in the World. He leads several industry working groups that focus on financial market connectivity between Australia and China, is a member of the international advisory forum for AusIMM and is the former Chairman of AustCham, Beijing and former member of the Australia-China Council.
