Networking Dinner with ACBC Australian Delegation

AustCham Hong Kong is proud to be a supporting partner of the Australia China Business Council 2023 Delegation to China and welcomes members, friends and guests to join us for a very special event.

The event will bring together senior representatives from the ACBC delegation (Australian business, investment, education institutions, and representative bodies), AustCham Hong Kong members, and guests from the international and local business community. This delegation is the first to China since the onset of the pandemic and the dinner provides an opportunity to meet directly with senior business leaders interested in expanding to Hong Kong and China. Members from the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong are also invited to join us for the event, with 60 to 80 guests in total expected to attend.

The event includes a pre-event cocktail (6:00pm – 7:00pm), followed by 3-course dinner and beverages. The dinner will include speakers and discussion on the business opportunities between Australia and Hong Kong, and explore the role of Hong Kong in the Greater Bay Area, including:

Group Managing Director | CK Infrastructure

Mr H.L. Kam has been an Executive Director and Deputy Managing Director of CK Hutchison Holdings Limited (CK Hutchison) since January 2015. CK Hutchison Holdings Limited (CK Hutchison) is a renowned multinational conglomerate committed to innovation and technology. Their diverse businesses employ 300,000 people in over 50 countries/markets across the world.


Mr Kam is also an Executive Director and Deputy Managing Director of CKA. Mr Kam was Deputy Managing Director of Cheung Kong (Holdings) since 1993 until June 2015. The listing status of Cheung Kong (Holdings) on the SEHK was replaced by the Company in March 2015 and he was re-designated as Director of Cheung Kong (Holdings) in June 2015. He is also Group Managing Director of CKI and the President of CKLS. Mr Kam was an Executive Director of HWL since 1993 and was re-designated as Director in June 2015 upon the privatisation of HWL by way of a scheme of arrangement, which became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company. He is also Chairman of HXAML as the manager of Hui Xian REIT. Save and except CKA and HXAML, the aforementioned companies are either subsidiaries or associated companies of the Group of which Mr Kam has oversight as Director of the Company.


Prior to joining the Group, Mr Kam had more than 20 years of experience in senior and regional capacities at major US multinational companies, including Johnson and Johnson, American Express and Levi Strauss. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and a Master’s degree in Business Administration.


Mr Kam is the brother-in-law of Mr Li Ka-shing, the Senior Advisor and a substantial shareholder (within the meaning of the SFO) of the Company, and an uncle of Mr Li Tzar Kuoi, Victor, Chairman and Group Co-Managing Director of the Company.

Chairman | Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong

Dr. Jonathan Choi is Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, HK, Chairman of the Hong Kong-based Sunwah Group, Chairman of the Toronto-listed Sunwah International Limited, Chairman of the Hong Kong-listed Sunwah Kingsway Capital Group and Chairman of VinaCapital Group of Vietnam. Established in 1957, Sunwah’s business now covers seven principal areas: Seafood & Foodstuff, Real Estate, Financial Services, Technology, Media, Infrastructure and Education and training. Activities extend deep into Mainland China as well as to the environs of Macau, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Singapore, Japan and across the oceans to Canada, the United States and Australia.

 

Dr. Choi is active in community and international affairs which is evident in the wide range of public positions he holds. These mainly include: Standing Committee Member of the National Committee of CPPCC of the PRC; Hong Kong, China's representative to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council and Co-chair of ABAC Regional Economic Integration Working Group; Co-chair of SME Development Taskforce of B20 2016 Host Committee; Executive Director of China Overseas Friendship Association; Standing Committee Member of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce; Co-Chair of the Belt & Road Industrial and Commercial Alliance (BRICA); Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce; Chairman of Guangdong-HK-Macao Bay Area Entrepreneurs Union; Member of the Chief Executive’s Council of Advisers on Innovation and Strategic Development HKSAR; Council Member of Hong Kong Trade Development Council; Chairman of the Small and Medium Enterprises Committee of HKSAR; Founding Chairman of the Hong Kong - Vietnam Chamber of Commerce; Founding Chairman of Hong Kong - Korea Business Council and Chairman of the China Hong Kong Israel Technology Cooperation and Promotion Center etc.

 

In 2015, Dr. Choi was conferred the “Friendship Order” by the President of Vietnam and became an Honorary Ambassador of Foreign Investment Promotion for Korea respectively. In February 2017, Dr. Choi was conferred the “Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters of France” by the French Government and Japan Foreign Minister’s Commendation for FY 2017. Dr. Choi has been awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star (GBS) and Justice of the Peace (JP) by the HKSAR Government for his meritorious public and community service.


Vivian Cheung Kar-fay
Chief Operating Officer | Airport Authority Hong Kong

Mrs Cheung is an alumnus of Stanford University’s Executive Programme. Holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Computer Science degree. She was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2022. Mrs Cheung worked for the General Electric Company and a high-technology start-up in Silicon Valley for many years before joining the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) in 1992. With almost 30 years of experience in airport management, she has held a number of senior management positions in AAHK. Mrs Cheung is currently a Director of the Hong Kong–Zhuhai Airport Management Company Limited and Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Hong Kong Airport Management Co., Ltd. Active in community service, she is a Member of the Town Planning Board and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Infrastructure Development Advisory Committee.

 



Raymond Yeung
Chief Economist, Greater China | ANZ

Raymond Yeung is Chief Economist for Greater China at ANZ. Leading the team in Hong Kong and Shanghai, Raymond has been recognised in KangaNews’ Fixed Income Research Survey since 2017. He is the author of China’s Trump Card Cryptocurrency and its Game-Changing Role in Sino-US Trade published by John Wiley & Son (ISBN: 978-1-119-69912-5).


Raymond has covered Greater China’s economy on the ground for almost 30 years. His provocative ideas and non-consensus market calls have garnered a strong following among ANZ’s clients, including central banks, corporates and asset managers. He speaks at international conferences regularly and appears on Bloomberg, CNBC and Chinese media. He maintains regular economic dialogues with policymakers in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan and serves on the steering committee of China Chief Economist Forum.


Raymond earned a Ph.D. in economics at Queen’s University, Canada, and is a holder of Financial Risk Manager (FRM). Prior to joining ANZ, he was Deputy Head of Asia Economic Research at Swiss Re.
