The AustCham Hong Kong Women in Business Network (WIBN) is delighted to announce Cassandra Lister, Chief Executive of National Australia Bank Hong Kong, as our next  ‘Leadership Series’ speaker for 2021.

Join us for a wide-ranging discussion on ‘resilience’. From running an Australian Financial Institution through the Covid-19 pandemic, to building a career that has spanned trading floors, banking and private equity, ‘resilience’ has underpinned Cassandra’s career.

In an unvarnished discussion with WIBN Chair, Lauren Chung, Cassandra will share lessons from her career journey in Financial Services and the soft and hard skills that enabled her to lead her team through challenges faced throughout the pandemic.

This is the second session of the WIBN Leadership Series which highlights global industry leaders in the region, sharing their insight and learnings from facing challenges of gender parity, promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and advancing women leaders.

Cassandra Lister
Chief Executive, Hong Kong & Member of the Asia Leadership Team | National Australia Bank

Cassandra joined NAB in February 2020 as the Head of Hong Kong Branch for the Corporate & Institutional Banking business. From June-December 2020, she took on the additional responsibility as the Acting Executive for Asia. In her role as the Head of Hong Kong, Cassandra is responsible for the strategic execution of NAB's business in Asia, in collaboration with key stakeholders. This includes overall regulatory governance with the HKMA, people leadership, client engagement and business transformation.

Cassandra has 25+ years’ experience in Financial Services with 14 years based in Hong Kong and was previously based in Sydney, Australia. Her prior senior executive positions with JPMorgan, Deutsche Bank and Scotiabank encompassed leading teams responsible for Financial Institutions clients across Asia Pacific, Global Markets Sales and Transaction Banking Sales. During an 18- month sabbatical from the corporate world, Cassandra delved into the world of Private Equity, helping private companies raise capital to fuel their growth plans.

Cassandra obtained a Masters in Applied Finance degree from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia in 1999. She is a certified Organisational Leadership Coach, gym fanatic and passionate dragon boat paddler. Her greatest achievement is being a mother to 17-year old twins.

Lauren Chung is a Senior Managing Director with Teneo, the global CEO advisory firm, focused both on consulting mandates and running operations for the Asia Pacific region.

Lauren’s advisory work spans Strategy & Communications and Management Consulting, providing bespoke solutions to clients that solve high-stakes business challenges and see them through periods of complex transformation. Her areas of expertise include strategy, stakeholder relations, government & public affairs and environmental, social & governance consulting. She has advised and served a broad range of clients from industries including Private Equity, Technology, Transport, Manufacturing & Consumer Goods.

Lauren is a Board Director of The Fred Hollows Foundation (Hong Kong) and Chairs the Women in Business Network at the Australian Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong. She sits on the Marketing Committee for Mother’s Choice, a not-for-profit serving the many children without families and pregnant teenagers in Hong Kong. Lauren is also an angel investor in purpose-driven, social impact businesses in Asia.

She holds an eMBA from INSEAD, a Master of International Business from Monash University and a Bachelor of Arts. Lauren speaks conversational Mandarin and lives in Hong Kong with her husband, daughter and two sons.
