Ms Agnes Chan BBS

Ms Agnes Chan BBS is the Immediate Past Chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong's oldest business organisation, founded in 1861, with around 4,000 corporate members that together employ approximately one third of Hong Kong's workforce.

 

Ms Chan was formerly Managing Partner of the EY member firms in Hong Kong and Macau, where she oversaw all aspects of business operations in those locations. She joined EY in Australia in 1986 and returned to Hong Kong in 1991. With more than three decades of experience providing tax and business advisory services, Ms Chan has advised local and multinational corporations across a broad range of sectors.

 

Ms Chan is a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and a member of the Election Committee in the National Committee of the CPPCC. She is Chairperson of the Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Corporation Advisory Board. She is also a member of the Public Service Commission, the Advisory Committee on Tax Policy, the Strategic Committee on Commodities and the Inland Revenue Department's Users' Committee. She was previously a member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and a Non Executive Director of the Securities and Futures Commission.

 

In 2023, Ms Chan was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS) by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR. The Bronze Bauhinia Star is conferred under Hong Kong's honours system on individuals who have rendered long and distinguished public or community service, or who have made significant contributions to Hong Kong in their field.
