AustCham Hong Kong Establishes Global Advisory Council to Advance Australia–Hong Kong Business Engagement

The Hon Andrew Robb AO, Wayne Porritt, Agnes Chan BBS and Stuart Fuller appointed as Foundation Members

HONG KONG, 16 September 2026 — The Australian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong today announced the establishment of the AustCham Hong Kong Global Advisory Council, a senior advisory body created to support the Chamber’s long‑term strategy and mission, strengthen its regional engagement, and deepen commercial, institutional and people‑to‑people ties between Australia, Hong Kong, mainland China and the wider Asia‑Pacific region.

The Council will provide strategic counsel to AustCham Hong Kong with a focus on trade and investment, regional connectivity, the evolving opportunities shaping the Australia–Hong Kong–China business corridor, and engagement with Australian and Hong Kong boardrooms.

AustCham Hong Kong Chairman Mr Jason Chang said the establishment of the Global Advisory Council marks a pivotal step in the Chamber’s continued evolution as one of the region’s leading international business organisations.

“Hong Kong remains one of Australia’s most important commercial gateways into Asia and globally, and AustCham Hong Kong plays a vital role in ensuring our business community remains connected, informed and influential,” Mr Chang said.

“The establishment of the Global Advisory Council reflects our ambition to draw on the experience and judgement of outstanding leaders who understand the region, who have shaped major commercial and policy outcomes, and who are committed to strengthening Australia’s engagement with the region.

“We are honoured to welcome the Hon Andrew Robb AO, Wayne Porritt, Agnes Chan BBS and Stuart Fuller as foundation members of the Council. Each brings exceptional standing across government, trade, investment, finance, professional services, governance and public life. Their counsel will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for our members and contribute to the enduring strength of the Australia–Hong Kong relationship.”

Mr Chang said the inaugural appointments reflect the Council’s intended role as a source of senior, practical and regionally informed advice.

“Andrew’s contribution to Australia’s trade and investment agenda is of national significance. His work negotiating landmark free trade agreements with Australia’s key North Asian partners continues to shape Australia’s economic engagement across the region,” Mr Chang said.

“Wayne brings deep international experience across banking, risk, governance and capital markets, together with more than two decades of experience in Greater China and North Asia.

“Agnes is one of Hong Kong’s most respected business leaders, with an outstanding record in professional services, public service and business advocacy in Hong Kong.

“Stuart has led global professional services organisations and has spent considerable time in Hong Kong and across the region. His leadership of Asia Society Australia places him in a distinctive position to help shape the Chamber’s strategy and deepen Australia’s engagement with Asia.

“Together, they bring the calibre of leadership, judgement and perspective required to help AustCham Hong Kong navigate a complex regional environment and identify new areas of opportunity for our members.”

The Hon Andrew Robb AO

The Hon Andrew Robb AO is a former Australian Minister for Trade, Investment and Tourism and one of Australia’s most experienced trade and investment leaders.

As Minister, Mr Robb negotiated free trade agreements with South Korea, Japan and China, as well as the 12‑country Trans‑Pacific Partnership free trade agreement and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Singapore. He also conducted 85 investment roundtables with 28 countries.

Mr Robb is currently Chairman of The Robb Group, BOW Projects, CLARA Energy and CBMA. He is also a Board Member of Tamboran Resources, Inter‑Port Global, Mind Medicine Australia and the Menzies Research Centre, and serves as Strategic Advisor to AllCap Securities Ltd.

Mr Wayne Porritt

Mr Wayne Porritt is an accomplished global executive with extensive experience in the banking and finance industry. He has worked across Greater China and North Asia for more than 20 years, having lived in Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan and South Korea.

He has held board and senior executive roles with Standard Chartered Bank, including as Regional Chief Risk Officer for Greater China and North Asia, and with Bank of America, and previously held roles with Société Générale Australia, Ernst & Young and the State Bank of New South Wales.

Mr Porritt is an Independent Non‑Executive Director of Hong Kong Stock Exchange‑listed Sun Hung Kai & Co. Limited, Independent Non‑Executive Chairman of Global Invacom Group Limited, a company listed on the Mainboard of the Singapore Exchange, and a Non‑Executive Director of Standard Chartered Bank (Taiwan) Limited. He is also a Non‑Independent Director of Luyang Energy‑Savings Materials Co., Ltd.

He holds various not‑for‑profit board and advisory roles in Australia and Hong Kong, including as a Council Member of Oxfam Hong Kong, a Board Member of Asia Society Australia and an NSW Committee Member of the Australia–China Business Council.

Ms Agnes Chan BBS

Ms Agnes Chan BBS is the Immediate Past Chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong’s oldest business organisation, founded in 1861, with around 4,000 corporate members that together employ approximately one‑third of Hong Kong’s workforce.

Ms Chan was formerly Managing Partner of the EY member firms in Hong Kong and Macau, where she oversaw all aspects of business operations in those locations. She joined EY in Australia in 1986 and returned to Hong Kong in 1991. With more than three decades of experience providing tax and business advisory services, Ms Chan has advised local and multinational corporations across a broad range of sectors.

Ms Chan is a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and a member of the Election Committee in the National Committee of the CPPCC. She is Chairperson of the Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Corporation Advisory Board. She is also a member of the Public Service Commission, the Advisory Committee on Tax Policy, the Strategic Committee on Commodities and the Inland Revenue Department’s Users’ Committee. She was previously a member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and a Non‑Executive Director of the Securities and Futures Commission.

In 2023, Ms Chan was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS) by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR. The Bronze Bauhinia Star is conferred under Hong Kong’s honours system on individuals who have rendered long and distinguished public or community service, or who have made significant contributions to Hong Kong in their field.

Mr Stuart Fuller

Mr Stuart Fuller is Chair of Asia Society Australia, a Global Trustee of the Asia Society, and Chair of the Advisory Board of AusPECC, the Australian member of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council. He is the immediate past Global Head of Legal Services for KPMG International (2019 to 2024) and was the inaugural Global Managing Partner of King & Wood Mallesons (2012 to 2017), a role he held while based in Hong Kong. He is also a former Director of UNSW Foundation Limited.

An acknowledged leader in the global professional services market, Mr Fuller led KPMG’s global legal services business of 4,000 legal professionals across more than 80 jurisdictions. He brings deep industry insight, cultural intelligence, commercial acumen and extensive global leadership experience, with a strong record of building businesses and teams across borders, including through technology‑enabled solutions.

Mr Fuller has deep connections across Asia, Europe, North America and Latin America, together with substantial board and chair experience. He is also an expert in financial services markets and their regulation, securitisation and structured finance, and the global capital markets.
